New Delhi: A Class XII student of a famous school in Janakpuri was allegedly gangraped by four young men in a moving car in West Delhi on Tuesday.
The girl was coming out of her coaching class when she was accosted by four men in a SUV, a Scorpio. The four forced the girl into the vehicle and tortured her for five hours. Two of them were said to be her neighbours.
The girl was later dumped in front of her residence at around 2330 hrs IST on Tuesday.
"I tried to call my friend, but these men cut the phone. They pulled my hair and beat me. They tortured me both mentally and physically," the traumatised girl later said.
The four accused have been arrested and booked on charges of abduction of a minor, gangrape and threat to life. They have been sent to Tihar Jail. The police have also seized the vehicle.
Though medical examination of the girl has ruled out sexual intercourse, it did confirm physical assault, enough evidence to charge the four for the crime.
The family of the girl filed an FIR at Janakpuri police station on Wednesday.
Over 600 rape cases were registered in the capital this year.
The Janakpuri incident only goes on to underline the fact that Delhi is still not safe for women and the Delhi police seem to have failed to achieve the desired objective in their efforts to make the city safer for women.
